Concept of God
Hinduism is a polytheistic religion, meaning they believe and worship more than one god. But, this religion is more complex than just that. Regardless, the views of individual hindus vary. Some only believe in the three main gods, others believe in all thirty-three gods, and even some hindus believe that people should only worship one main god. Hindus believe that everything living and non living is part of the gods. It is believed that the 33 gods make up the characteristics of Brahman, the main god. The main god is split up into 33 gods to help the people understand and worship all of the characteristics. The Gods make it easier to the individuals to worship one god when a certain characteristic is needed or an individual can choose one god to worship that is most relatable. The main three gods worshipped in Hinduism are Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. These three gods are the most popular that even some temples are dedicated to one of these three gods, followed by many devotees.
Brahman: The spiritual essence of the universe (god with no form).
Brahma: (not to be confused with Brahman) The creator.
Vishnu: The Preserver.
Shiva: The destroyer, Transformer
Ganesha: The god of wisdom and learning.
Krishna: The god of love and divine joy.
